PMO’s Managing Director: Despite many dangers, Iranian seafarers carry on strongly

The Deputy Minister of Roads and the Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization: Iranian seafarers have continued their activities with courage and bravery despite numerous sanctions and dangers.

At Day of the Seafarer ceremony, Ali Akbar Safaei stated that Iranian seafarers have continued their activities with courage and bravery in recent years, despite numerous sanctions and dangers. “the country needs 5,000 officers in the shipping sector”, Safaei highlighted “Action such as development of the education sector must be taken to address this need”

Referring to the seizure of the Iranian tanker by Greece, PMO’s Managing Director said: The Iranian ship seized by Greece authorities is now released and heading to a foreign ship to load its oil cargo.

Safaei also pointed to the increased number of piracy in recent years and stated that the country's navy is actively monitoring the waters and provides security for all domestic and foreign vessels.
